In the spirit of giving and sharing over the holidays, this past week SINGTEX held a Christmas Clothing Exchange Market.
All SINGTEX employees were invited to bring their unwanted gently worn clothing with the incentive that those that brought items would receive early VIP entrance to the market. We received 188 pieces of clothing from 38 employees in 9 different departments. Even Chairman Jason Chen and Vice Chairman Amy Lai donated clothing to the market!
By the end of the three day event 101 pieces of clothing were given a second chance by SINGTEX staff and will now spark joy in their new homes.
The remaining 87 pieces of clothing was sorted into three categories.
67 pieces will be donated to the Hsinye Association, a charity in Taipei City that runs rehabilitation programs for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Xuan Yi charity
11 denim items will be donated to the Xuan Yi charity in Taoyuan City. Xuan Yi is an environmentally focused fashion skill training program for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities and their families. Program participants will give our denim items a new life by transforming them into bags and altered clothing items that will then sold in partner shops across Taiwan.
Overall the first ever SINGTEX Christmas Clothing Exchange Market was a great success. Though we all know the importance of the three Rs, the first two “reusing” and “reducing” sometimes get forgotten. With the introduction of this event SINGTEX is hoping to encourage a company culture of reusing before recycling.
We can’t wait to see our SINGTEX colleagues around the office in their new outfits!
