As the climate warms up in Spring, the fields are bustling with farming activities, and farmers are all busy transplanting rice seedlings. The Singtex Group (4433) has adopted rice fields in Yilan for the 11th year. A day after Chunfen in Spring, Chairman Chen Kuo-Chin leads colleagues from Singtex, GFun, and Magictex to Mr. Fang Fu-Tsai (winner of the Shennong Awards)'s rice field in Yilan to transplant the year's rice seedlings. Through the experience, everyone can appreciate the meaning of "each grain of rice in your plate is the fruit of a farmer's labor".
Rice is a sentimental crop of the Taiwanese people. Besides the provision of food, planting rice preserves groundwater and prevents land subsidence. Rice fields form villages that offer a warm shelter for the city. The landscape formed by rice plants is part of our collective memories, However, rice farmers' livelihood depends on the climate, and they often lose an entire year's worth of hard work due to a natural disaster. Consequently, Singtex wishes to adopt rice fields to share the farmers' challenges during the cultivation process. Singtex supports rice cultivation to make sure that farmers can enjoy a steady income by working closely with Fang Fu-Tsai, chief of the organic rice production and marketing group of Wujie Township Farmers Association. In March every year, our employees and their families can join the rice seedling transplantation activity and the harvesting activity in August. The harvest rice is turned into Moon Festival souvenirs and shared with Singtex partners.
Singtex is dedicated to managing a "heartwarming business". In addition to providing green products and green processes, we also care about society, public welfare, and education. By adopting organic rice fields and collaborating with local rice farmers to cultivate organic rice, we can restore a healthy ecology on Earth. Under the guidance of the farmers, our younger generations can also get involved by bending down and bowing their heads to transplant the rice seedlings with their hands in order to experience being one with nature and appreciate the concept of sustainability.
