SINGTEX® has invested NT$40 million to build its textile laboratory. The laboratory has been consistently certified by TAF as an independent and impartial textile laboratory, one of the only fully certified textile laboratories in Taiwan. Research and development has always been one of SINGTEX®’s key strengths.

Q:How long have you worked at SINGTEX®? What was your first position?
For 10 years, I have worked as a supervisor in the testing laboratory.
Q:What influenced you to get into the textile industry?
As a result of my childhood interest, I studied textile engineering in college and discovered during my studies that I was very interested in developing high performance fabrics. I also wanted to learn how to hone my expertise, so I entered the textile industry after graduation.
Q:Tell us about one of your favourite projects.
My favorite projects involve creative problem solving, it’s always fun to see what new solutions you can come up with on any given day!
Q:What do you think the future of the textile industry will be like?
The global climate is getting more and more extreme, so it is important to develop textiles that are cold and heat resistant in harsher environmental conditions.
Q:Why do you enjoy hands on work?
Ideas need to be proved by action. I like trying out my ideas through to the end by testing them.
It is impossible to separate the Textile Testing Labs at SINGTEX® from Emily Chen. As lab manager, she has a background in textile chemistry and also leads a team that performs textile testing for each fabric. She is also in charge of developing lab analysis techniques such as fabric tensile strength, water pressure, water repellent/resistance testing, abrasion testing, etc.
It was a pleasure talking with Emily Chang, about her work and for her to share with us her vision for the future of the textile industry.

Since 2009, SINGTEX® testing laboratory has passed ISO/IEC 17025 certification. This certification is evaluated by TAF (Taiwan Accreditation Foundation), a full member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). We are the same level as independent testing institutions, ITS and SGS.
Furthermore, we have obtained ISO 9001 certification as well as accreditation certificates from L.L.Bean, VF Group, New Balance, VAUDE, and Eddie Bauer.
